Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during the free 15 minute consultation?
The consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other better, discuss what you are looking for in therapy and a therapist, how I can help, and determine whether we are a good fit to work together. If either of us decides that it’s not a good fit, I can provide referrals to other therapists who may be a better fit for you.
What happens after the consultation meeting?
If we decide to move forward, we will schedule your first session, typically the following week. Before your first session, you will complete intake paperwork and sign consent forms. Your first session will be 50 minutes and we will focus on getting a full understanding of your needs, what you would like to accomplish in therapy, how I can help, and set goals. I recommend that to start, we meet once a week for the first two to three months to keep up the momentum we see in session. Payment is collected at the end of your session via the credit card you have on file.
How much does therapy cost? Do you accept insurance?
All 50 minute sessions are $200. I accept Aetna insurance in NJ and PA. Other insurances may be reimbursed out of network based on your coverage and you will be provided with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company.
I have never been in therapy before. What can I expect?
While therapy will be different for everyone because each person’s goals are different, there are some commonalities. The role of the therapist is to provide an open, honest, nonjudgmental space that fosters a sense of safety and connection where you can show up fully as your authentic self. You will learn new tools to help you better manage your anxiety and gain insight into why you feel the way you do and what you can do about it so that you don’t feel stuck. Insight + action = growth. You will have someone who is unconditionally on your side, supporting you, while also challenging you to grow.
How long will I be in therapy?
In short: it depends! It depends on what you are struggling with, what your goals are, and your level of commitment and motivation. What you learn in therapy is important but what is even more important is putting what you learn into practice, in the 167 hours a week outside of therapy. Some people need a few months; others, longer.
